# v1.5.3 — A fix that couldn't wait

> Repairs a bug in 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 that could crash Inkwell the moment it opened. Your scripts were never at risk.

## Highlights

Versions 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 contained a bug that could crash Inkwell the
instant it opened — before you ever saw your script. We caught it the same
day, withdrew both updates, and shipped this fix within hours.

**Your writing was never in danger.** Your scripts are files on your Mac,
and this bug couldn't touch them — it only stopped the app from opening.

## Fixed

* **Inkwell opens reliably again.** A piece of the new per-account sync
  settings ran a fraction of a second too early during launch and could
  bring the whole app down with it. It now waits its turn.

If Inkwell wouldn't open for you today, this update ends that — and if it
still won't, reinstall from
[inkwell.app/download](https://inkwell.app/download) and you'll be right
back where you left off. Everything from
[v1.5.2](/whats-new/v1-5-2) and [v1.5.0](/whats-new/v1-5-0) — encrypted
sync, account-aware settings — is included here and works as intended.
