Tips for Mastering Shortcuts

Start with the essentials:
  1. Cmd+S (Save)
  2. Cmd+Z (Undo)
  3. Cmd+F (Find)
  4. Cmd+L (Quill AI)
  5. Cmd+Shift+D (Focus Mode)
Build muscle memory:
  • Use shortcuts instead of menus for one week
  • Focus on your most frequent actions
  • Print this page as a reference
Customize your workflow:
  • Combine shortcuts: Cmd+Shift+D + Cmd+9 = focused, perfectly sized page
  • Use Quill AI (Cmd+L) during writing, not just for fixes

Common Questions

Not currently. Inkwell uses industry-standard shortcuts where possible. Custom shortcut mapping may be added in future updates.
Check if another app is intercepting the shortcut. On macOS, System Preferences → Keyboard → Shortcuts shows conflicting shortcuts. On Windows, check third-party apps or system utilities.
Hover over menu items—most show their keyboard shortcut on the right. Or bookmark this page for quick reference.
Inkwell uses smart auto-formatting. Just type—it detects scene headings, dialogue, action, etc. No shortcuts needed for element switching.
