Highlights
⌘] is now Ask Quill. Press it from anywhere in your script and Quill opens with the cursor ready for your question. Press it again while you’re typing to Quill and you’re back on your page, right where you left off. Every theme is also easier to read: notes, synopses, section headers, and the quieter text in the sidebars all have stronger contrast, in light and dark, without changing the look you chose.New
- Ask Quill (⌘]). Opens Quill and puts the cursor in the message box, jumps there if Quill is already open, and takes you back to your script if you’re already typing to Quill. The toolbar button still just shows and hides the panel.
- Theme previews in Settings. Settings ▸ General ▸ Appearance shows the same little page previews as first launch, so you can see each theme before you pick it.
- More from the keyboard. New commands in the Edit menu: Show Breakdown for This Scene (⇧⌥⌘B) and Explain Mark at Cursor (⇧⌥⌘E), which tells you why Style Check or Production Highlight marked a word.
Improved
- Easier to read in every theme. Notes, synopses, section headers, scene numbers, and the quieter sidebar text meet accessibility contrast guidelines in Light, Focus, Midnight, Sepia, and System. In Focus, notes in the outline are a lighter teal that reads clearly on the dark sidebar.
- VoiceOver. The find bar reads out your place (“3 of 12”), and you can resize the sidebar and the Quill panel without a mouse.
- Reduce Motion now covers the Quill panel and the first-launch tip too.
Fixed
- Pressing Tab on an empty line no longer gets stuck switching between dialogue and a parenthetical. Tab now moves on through every line type; Shift-Tab still takes you back to dialogue.
- Anonymous setup counts now pass through Inkwell’s own server, so they reach our analytics provider without your IP address.
