- Opening a script no longer freezes the app. Tapping a PDF stored in iCloud Drive that hadn’t finished downloading could lock up Inkwell Reader and, if you switched apps while it was stuck, close it outright. Scripts now open in the background, with a quiet “Opening…” cue while a long PDF is read, so the app stays responsive no matter where the file lives.

- Watermarked PDFs come in clean. A name or notice stamped across every page of a distribution draft used to leak into the script as stray action lines. Those stamps are now recognized and dropped, whether they run diagonally or straight across the page.
- Dialogue stays together. Long speeches imported from PDF, Final Draft, or Fountain no longer split into separate blocks partway through, so Sides highlighting and character line counts are accurate.
- Character extensions are kept. A Fountain script’s
(V.O.),(O.S.), and(CONT'D)tags now survive import, and continued cues are never doubled up. - Acts and sequences round-trip from Final Draft. Section headers from a Final Draft outline open cleanly, and an action line that follows one is no longer dropped.
v1.2.0 — Your library, on every device

- Encrypted sync arrives on iPhone and iPad. Sign in with the account you use in Inkwell on the Mac and every script you have chosen to sync appears in your Reader library, end-to-end encrypted with a key only your devices hold. Turn sync on from the Mac editor; the Reader follows.
- Sign in with an email link. No password to remember: enter your address, tap the link we send you, and you are in. Sign in with Apple and Google remain available.
- Recovery code unlock. If a synced script can’t be unlocked on a new device, enter the recovery code you saved on the Mac to restore access.
- Two-column home screen in landscape. Turn your iPhone sideways, or open the Reader on iPad, and the library uses the width for a two-column layout.

- One library, no duplicates. A script that lives both in your Files and in sync shows once, with honest “last updated” timestamps and clear locked or loading states.
v1.1.3 — Shooting scripts open as scripts

- Shooting scripts and sides now open as navigable scripts. A PDF whose scene headings start with a scene number, like
31 INT. CHAMBER - DAY, used to open as a flat page image you could only scroll. Inkwell Reader now reads those numbered headings and opens the script with full scene navigation, search, and Sides highlighting.
