Highlights

This release is mostly about Quill — the AI writing partner inside Inkwell. You can now drop a PDF or an image straight into a conversation, click an attachment chip to preview it full-size, and see exactly how many credits you have left in both the account menu and the Quill panel itself. Billing and the credit ledger got a top-to-bottom audit so the number on screen matches the work you’ve actually done.

New

  • PDF and image attachments in Quill. Drag a PDF, screenshot, or reference image into the Quill composer and Quill will read it as part of your turn. Click the attachment chip in any past message to open it in a preview sheet without leaving the conversation.
  • Credit balance in plain sight. Your remaining credits now show in the account chip at the top-right of every window and inside the Quill panel — no more digging into your profile to find out where you stand.
  • A real Settings window. Settings now lives in a dedicated window with all your preferences — editor behavior, autosave, account — grouped into clear sections. Open it from the Inkwell menu or with ⌘,.
  • Save-on-quit prompt. Close a window with unsaved changes (⌘W) or quit Inkwell (⌘Q) and you’ll get a prompt to save first. Pairs with the autosave toggle if you’ve turned autosave off.
  • Help menu shortcuts. New Help → What’s New in Inkwell and Help → Inkwell Documentation menu items take you straight to release notes and the docs site you’re reading right now.

Improved

  • Quill writes better, by default. A built-in writing-focused system prompt now ships with every conversation, so Quill stays on-task as your screenplay collaborator without you having to re-explain context each time.
  • Quill conversations feel faster and cheaper. A rolling prompt cache keeps recent context warm between turns, which means quicker responses and lower credit cost on follow-up questions in the same thread.
  • Smarter long-conversation handling. When a thread gets long enough that it starts costing more per turn, Quill will tell you — and offers to summarize older context so you can keep going without blowing your budget.
  • Cleaner Quill panel. Sending an attachment-only turn no longer leaves a blank message bubble behind. Image previews scale to fit instead of overflowing the panel. Clicking the empty space around the composer focuses the text field the way you’d expect.

Fixed

  • Quitting Inkwell no longer hangs. A background sync process could occasionally keep Inkwell alive for several seconds after you quit. Quit is now instant.
  • No more ghost editor on launch. Opening Inkwell could briefly show an empty editor window behind the project picker. The picker now opens cleanly on its own.
  • Quit confirmation respects the launcher. Closing only the startup picker (with no documents open) no longer asks “are you sure?” — it just quits.
  • Billing returns you to the right place. After managing your subscription with Stripe, you’ll land back on your profile page instead of a missing /account URL.
  • Credit balance now reflects your actual usage. Several places that read your balance from the wrong source could show a stale number; everything now reads from the same credit ledger so the value on your account chip, your profile, and your receipts all agree.
